Agendas and information about the summer term primary headteacher meetings June 2018

Monday 4th June 2018

The Summer term Area Primary Headteacher meetings will be held in June- see dates and venues below. The meetings will start at 9.00 am and will include, as always, refreshments and lunch. You are likely to want to attend your local meeting, but if the date doesn’t work for you please do attend any of the other meetings. There is no need to book, just turn up (leaving some time for parking) and enjoy the day.

The summer term newsletter will be circulated at the meeting, and this includes the dates for the headteacher meetings in the 2018/19 school year.

The dates of the meetings are:

SOUTH           Wednesday 13 June         Holiday Inn, Basildon, SS14 3DG
N-EAST          Thursday 14 June            Colchester Stadium, CO45UP
WEST             Wednesday 20 June         Weston Homes Takeley, CM22 6PU
MID                 Thursday 21 June             Chelmsford City Football Club, CM1 2EH

The agenda will include updates from the Local Authority, including information about the future of the school meals advisory service, the education restructure and an update on the SEND strategy.

The EPHA slot at the meeting will include the area annual general meeting. Please see the nomination form attached for your local representatives - and consider joining the EPHA Executive to represent your colleagues and help inform and support all primary heads in Essex.

At the North East meeting we are delighted to welcome Jeremy Spencer, who is the new Ofsted Senior HMI for the East of England. He will be talking about the current arrangements and future of Ofsted, and will be happy to answer your questions at the meeting. I have attached the speech given by Amanda Spielman, HCMI, to the ASCL conference in May, as a little light pre-reading.

At the South and West meetings we are delighted to welcome Ros Blackburn  who will be delivering a presentation titled:  “Logically Illogical – Information and Insight into Autism”. Ros Blackburn is an adult with autism. At three months old she appeared withdrawn, isolated and very much in a world of her own. At 18 months she was diagnosed very severely autistic but with average intellectual ability. Now at 49, Ros lectures nationally and internationally, giving insight into her own experiences and the care and education practices she has observed. Some of you will have seen Ros before and will know that she presents with passion, insight and humour.

The Mid and West headteachers will have a chance to meet their quadrant managers for Virgincare/Barnados (held over from last term, due to the need to cancel the spring term meetings).

Safeguarding Forum meeting
In the afternoon Jo Barclay will run the termly safeguarding forum meeting in each area – headteachers are very welcome to stay on and attend, and other staff from schools across the area will join the meeting (from 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm).
If you plan to attend the safeguarding forum, please make sure you have booked a place via the Infolink
