Summer term headteacher meetings

Monday 5th June 2017

The Area Primary Headteacher meetings will be held just after half term- see dates and venues below. The meetings will start at 9.00 am and will include, as always, refreshments and lunch. You are likely to want to attend your local meeting, but if the date doesn’t work for you please do attend any of the other meetings. There is no need to book, just turn up (leaving some time for parking) and enjoy the day.

The summer term newsletter will be circulated at the meeting, and this includes the dates for the headteacher meetings in the 2017/18 school year

The dates of the meetings are:

SOUTH          Wednesday 14 June         Holiday Inn, Basildon, SS14 3DG

NORTH EAST         Thursday 15 June            Colchester Stadium, CO4 5UP

WEST             Wednesday 21 June         Weston Homes, Takeley, CM22 6PU

MID                 Thursday 22 June               Chelmsford City Football Club, CM1 2EH

The agenda will include updates from the Local Authority, including information about the future of the school improvement service, and an update on attendance and penalty notices

All four meetings will include a General Data Protection Briefing, relevant to headteachers and senior leaders. The aim of the briefing is to provide heads with a check list of statutory “must do’s” in relation to the GDPR in advance of its introduction in May 2018, as well as information about optional support available over the next 2 - 3  terms.

At the South meeting Pure Rayner, HMI, will give headteachers an update on current inspection news, including the impact of the appointment of the new HCMI, Amanda Speilman, in January, and feedback from inspections in Essex and further afield.

The EPHA slot at the meeting will include the area annual general meeting. Please see the nomination forms below for your local representatives and consider joining the EPHA Executive to represent your colleagues and help inform and support all primary heads in Essex.

All four meetings will close after lunch, but you are very welcome to use the venue to meet and network with colleagues in the afternoon.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any more information about these or other EPHA matters at pam@langmead.me.uk

I look forward to seeing you at the meetings.
