Summer term 2016 - termly headteacher meetings

Thursday 26th May 2016

The four area headteacher meetings took place on the following dates/venues:

The meetings included updates about the Local Authority strategic priorities, in particular the implications and impact of the DfE education white paper and the Schools Causing Concern guidance. Please find the View from the Bridge presentation here. Headteachers were asked to consider which services, currently funded by the ESG, DSG or as a traded activity, they want to continue - a checklist will be sent to schools by the Professional Officer, by the end of June. Clare Kershaw also referred to the welfare reforms and the impact on families and children - the full presentation given to to the Children's Partnership Board is available here.

There was also a presentation and round table discussion about recruitment and retention strategies (hopefully sharing best practice in the area, and then around the county). The outcomes of the survey will be used to inform the work of the Recruitment and Retention task and finish group.

The Early Years team gave an update - please find the EY presentation here.

During the morning, the Area AGM took place and your representatives for the EPHA Executive were elected - please see the attached updated membership list.

After lunch at the North East meeting there was a session led by Joel Shaljean on Essex Steps de-escalation and physical intervention
