Educational Excellence Everywhere - publication of the DfE White Paper March 2016

Monday 21st March 2016

During the budget announcement on Wednesday 16th March, the Chancellor announced a number of key education policies, setiting out the Government's plans for education for the next few years. This was followed the next day by a White Paper: Educational Excellence Everywhere.

Nigel Hookway, the EPHA Executive Director, has written a summary of the Education White Paper for your information and convenience.

Of course, there are plenty of views flying around about this - including questioning whether the White Paper will translate into legislation. See various articles on The Governor website- David Marriott's view on why mass academisation will never happen.

Two petitions - one to scrap the plan to force all schools to become academies
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/124702
and the demand to hold a public enquiry and referendum about total academisation
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/124747
have both reached well over 100,000 signatures, so triggering a debate in the House of Commons.
