National Network for Chairs of Headteacher Groups

Tuesday 15th May 2012

Karen Springett, EPHA Chair, is representing Essex on the Chairs of Headteachers' National Executive Board, as well as at East England Chairs of Headteacher Groups Network Meetings. The National executive has developed a draft constitution and terms of reference for the group.

These state that the National Network will:

1. Support and inform Headteacher groups by learning from and sharing with other

Headteacher groups.

2. Share the knowledge, ideas and information of these groups.

3. Give the group support, ideas and contact to help them be more effective and informed.

4. Nurture a culture of networking and school to school support.

5. Provide a forum for consultations, communication and collaboration with other

organisations, agencies and associations.

6. Be a voice of practice for Headteachers to the Department for Education.

The Network is supported by the National College. Issues discussed at the meeting in April included teaching schools, teaching standards, appraisal and capability and sponsoring academies. A National College presentation on teaching schools was shared with the members of the group.

The EPHA Chair will keep headteachers up to date with the outcomes of these meetings and welcomes comments, views and opinions to take to the regional and national forum.
