Education Welfare Service - information about the pricing structure from April 2012 and draft code of conduct

Sunday 22nd January 2012

You will be aware that the Essex Education Welfare Service has been charging schools and academies for non statutory work during the past year.

All schools and academies have been offered a range of services with the understanding that the prices quoted were in place until 31st March 2012 and would be reviewed in time for the costs to be considered within the schools budget forecasts for 2012 -13.

Through their professional organisations, schools, and academies have fed back on their views of how the range of services, with costs, should be set out to take effect from 1st April 2012. EWS recognises how important it is for schools and academies to have information about costs as early as possible, in order for them to inform the budget planning process. Further details of terms and conditions and frequently asked questions will follow in the near future.

The attached pricing structure provides detailed information of what the hourly rate includes and the range of services which are provided free of charge. I would also bring to your attention the change in the charging process - that invoices will be issued on receipt of subscription bookings and payment will be due within 14 days. Hours booked must be used by 31st March 2013.

EWS would to reassure you of their continued commitment to work in partnership to improve and maintain school attendance rates.

Also attached is a letter dated 20 January 2012 concerning the recent review of the EWS Code of Conduct and the issue of penalty notices, and leave for the police force during the Olympics.
