Essex Learning Partnership - ELP ASHE EPHA ESSHA

Survey of Expertise and Needs

PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE THIS SURVEY REQUEST WITH THAT SENT OUT BY THE LA. This is for Essex schools- by Essex schools. (Note: survey sent out by email to primary schools on 6 April 2011)

Dear Colleague

You will recall that last year that the three Headteacher Associations established the Essex Learning Partnership or ELP to work with the Local authority to broker school to school support. Since then you will be aware that the Local Authority has decided to progress with its own Traded services model.

Our aim for ELP had been to work with the Local Authority in delivering school improvement, based around the concept of school to school support with a focus on a learner/teacher/school needs lead approach. Our belief is that teachers and school leaders are the best people to bring about school improvement and that outstanding talent and expertise already exists in our Essex schools. The Headteacher associations therefore have tasked their professional officers to progress with our own ‘school to school' based model of school improvement but also to give schools access to a wide range of consultants, (mainly recent ex heads, SIPS or senior practitioners), and to a number of other groups, companies and consultancies that we work with. ELP has close links with National College, SSAT and other Training providers. I have attached a brief flyer with some indicative pricing but please note these costs are for senior leaders.

The first stage of developing our own Essex schools model of School Improvement and Support is to establish where the school improvement expertise lies in our schools. Then to establish what support schools are looking for, or need, to produce better outcomes for their students.

The survey below will ask for your school's areas of expertise which you may wish to share (at a cost) and which aspects of your school you are trying to develop and are seeking support external support in. ELP will use this information to broker links and allow schools to trade with each other. We know that you will have much of this information to hand in your SEF or School plan but it might be worth discussing this with your SLT before filling in the survey. When you have your information to hand the survey will only take a few minutes to complete.

Thank you in anticipation of your response.
